Beschreibung

  • The 750-seat Harmony Hall, the main hall of the Matsumoto Music Culture Center, was opened in October 1985. Matsumoto City is located in the center of Japan. The Culture Center has another small hall of 240 seats for multi-purpose use as
    well as three rehearsal rooms.
The Harmony Hall was planned and designed as a concert hall to serve for a wide range of classical music, from piano recitals to organ concerts. An organ with 43 stops was installed at the front part of the hall in 1987.
The room shape of the main hall is a shoebox with one floor with considerably steep slope, parallel sidewalls and a gabled
ceiling. The sidewalls have an architectural concrete finish and the ceiling is constructed with two layers of gypsum board
in order to avoid excessive absorption at low frequencies.
The small hall has variable reverberation units for classical and pop concerts, drama and lecture use.
The opening of the Matsumoto Music Culture Center has had a big impact on the music activities of the local city Matsumoto. The hall has been fully occupied by the music groups of citizens and world-famous musicians since it's opening.
